Player Safety:

The 2020-2021 season will likely be unlike any we’ve seen before. Scheduling and coordinating a basketball season during a pandemic will require patience, flexibility and understanding from our players, parents, families and partners. We’re in this together.

Every season but especially this one we are committed to providing safe and healthy spaces for all our players, coaches, volunteers and fans. To ensure we have a safe and healthy season, SLPBTBA has developed a detailed Preparedness Plan & Guidelines document in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Our goal is to mitigate the potential for transmission of COVID-19 in our organization and communities. This goal cannot be achieved without the help of our parents, families and friends of the program. In short, it requires full cooperation among all of our partners.

The COVID-19 Preparedness Plan & Guidelines document is administered by the SLPBTBA board. The board will maintain the overall authority and responsibility for the plan.

This document and all board decisions will follow the guidance developed by the state of Minnesota, available at the Stay Safe Minnesota website (https://staysafe.mn.gov). Additional sources that have informed this document and that are reviewed on an ongoing basis include:

  • Centers for Disease Control and Prevention
  • The Minnesota Department of Health
  • Minnesota State High School League
  • St. Louis Park School District
  • Minnesota Youth Athletic Services (http://myas.org/covid-19/resources)

Scholarships:

We will offer scholarships to eligible families that reduce registration fees by 50%. Scholarships will be awarded based on providing proof of participation in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Eligible families will be provided a scholarship code to be applied during the online registration process.  All scholarship requests need to be made in advance of registering online and registration needs to be complete prior to the first day of tryouts. Players not registered will not be placed on a team.  To request a scholarship code, please:

  • Contact Don Mink via the link at the bottom of this page
  • Provide a picture (phone picture is ok) of your son's approval in the free/reduced lunch program

Refunds (General):

  • Players not assigned to a team will receive a 100% refund for registration.
  • Requests received up to 5 days after team announcements will receive a 100% refund minus a $40 administrative fee.
  • More than 5 days after team announcements, the only refund requests processed will be because of medical reason or because the family moved from St Louis Park. These requests will receive a prorated amount based on tournaments played minus a $40 administrative fee.

Refunds (COVID-Related):

We understand you have concerns related to your financial investment this season. Please know that we are doing whatever we can to ensure that our traveling basketball program remains a program that will be around for years to come. We ask for your patience, support, and understanding as the requirements and guidelines shift throughout the year.

  • If a hosting association cancels a tournament or we remove ourselves from a tournament with a full refund to our association, you will be refunded $30 per tournament. We will accumulate the amounts over the season, which will be paid back to parents by check at the end of the season.
  • If an individual or entire team needs to withdraw from a tournament where the association was not refunded (i.e. the tournament was not cancelled but an individual or team needed to withdraw due to illness), no refund will be provided.
  • In the event of a major disruption or cancellation of the season due to COVID-19, the SLPBTBA Board of Directors will evaluate expanding its refund policy in a manner that is fair to families but also takes into consideration the various expenses incurred to that point in the season.

Payment Options:

On the final checkout/payment page you will have an option to pay in full or pay with a payment plan as follows:

  • PAY IN FULL: Submit total player fees online today upon conclusion of this online registration session via Visa, MasterCard or Discover
  • PAYMENT PLAN: Registration fees are divided into 3 installments with the first installment being collected online as part of the online registration process via Visa, MasterCard or Discover. • If you wish to use a different account to pay the balance, please log in to your SportsEngine account BEFORE the first day of payment to update  your account information

Saint Louis Park Resident Eligibility:

Players need to live in the St. Louis Park city limits or attend a St. Louis Park school to be eligible. We do not validate this information until forming teams (after tryouts), so if you do not meet these requirements and register, your registration fees will be refunded but the try out fee will not be refunded.  Use this link to view the boundaries we are using to determine eligibility.

Proof of Grade/Age:

Proof of Grade and Proof of Age are required to participate in MYAS basketball tournaments. First year SLP Traveling Basketball players will need to bring a copy of a birth certificate to tryouts.
