    • 6th -8th Grade: 8-10

How Do You Set Your Fees?

We work hard to keep the cost of our program affordable and provide the best value for our families.  Here are a few details to help you understand how our fees are set:

  • Financial assistance is available for families that are unable to manage the fees (see the Scholarships section below).
  • Our participation fees only cover our operating costs. The major items included in these operating costs are registration for all tournaments, gym time for practices (a substantial amount given a season that lasts more than three months), equipment, insurance, coaches and financial assistance / scholarship programs.
  • Tournaments are costly. Most tournaments are moving or have moved to a “no fee” model for spectators to simplify game-day entry. This model essentially removes the gate fee for spectators to attend a tournament. Given that tournaments have historically had gate fees of $5-$8 per person per day, the tournament hosts have dramatically increased registration costs to recoup those losses.
  • In addition to registering for the tournaments, our participation fees are based on a minimum of two practices per week for the entirety of the three-plus month season. The season typically begins mid-October and runs through early March (depending on grade). This equates to roughly 20-30 practices for our teams and the accompanying gym reservations.
  • We continually monitor the participation fees of other communities and have historically been lower or similar in cost.

Scholarships

We will offer scholarships to eligible families that reduce registration fees between 50%-100%. Scholarships have historically been awarded based on eligibility for participation in the Free and Reduced Lunch Program. Eligible families will be provided a scholarship code to be applied during the online registration process.  All scholarship requests need to be made in advance of registering online and registration needs to be complete prior to the first day of tryouts. Players not registered will not be placed on a team.  To request a scholarship code, please:

  • Contact oriole.girls.basketball@gmail.com

Refunds

  • Players not assigned to a team will receive a 100% refund for registration fees (tryout fee is not refundable)
  • Requests received up to 5 days after team announcements will receive a 100% refund minus a $40 administrative fee.
  • More than 5 days after team announcements, the only refund requests processed will be because of medical reason or because the family moved from St Louis Park. These requests will receive a prorated amount based on tournaments played minus a $40 administrative fee.

Registration & Uniform Costs, Payment Options

On the final checkout/payment page you will have an option to pay tryout fee or pay in full.  ***If a uniform purchase is needed (new to program or replacement needed), this fee will be added at checkout.

Early registration is very important. The Board uses registration numbers to decide how many teams will be formed at each grade level and then to enter those teams in area tournaments for the upcoming season.  Because of this fact, there is a $25.00 discount for registrations received prior to September 10th.

Note: Additional team costs may apply.  These may include but are not limited to hotel costs for out of town tournaments, other group activities, etc. These additional costs will always be optional for players.
