Equipment

Question: What equipment is required to participate?

Answer: The only required equipment is comfortable athletic clothing (shorts and tee shirt) for practices, the team's uniform for games (purchased through the registration process), and comfortable athletic shoes.  Quality, well fitting basketball shoes are strongly encouraged for your athlete's safety, performance, and enjoyment.  Poor fitting shoes, worn out shoes, or shoes not meant for basketball (ie running shoes) are slippery and make it more difficult to play well, in addition to making your athlete more prone to injury.

Question: Does my son need to buy a basketball?

Answer: No, they are not required.  Your coach will bring balls to practices and games. However, it's a great idea to have you own basketball for dribbling/shooting on your own. If you bring it to practice, make sure it is marked with your name!

Question: What size basketball will our son use?

Answer: Grades 3 and 4 use a 27.5 ball. Grades 5 and 6 use a 28.5 ball. 7th grade and older use a full-size basketball (typically full size basketballs do not show the size on them, but are 29.5).
